9:10 AM CASE STUDY: Master Plan for Macquarie Park’s Further Development to Create a Smart & Connected Precinct

Originally a business park characterised by low scale buildings, with a large footprint in a leafy green environment, in the past two decades Macquarie Park has undergone a major transformation. Currently there are approximately 45,000 employees working in Macquarie Park and that number is expected to double in the next 20 years. To prepare for its predicted growth, specific planning controls are being developed for Macquarie Park including smarter transport options. This session will look how Macquarie Park is planning on becoming more attractive to commercial tenants and plans for becoming an innovation hub.

  • Focus on transport oriented development, improving pedestrian networks and creating appealing public spaces
  • Plans for enhancing mobility in order to increase productivity and assist continued growth
  • Providing greater access to and from Macquarie Park to increase attractiveness for potential employees
